Objectifs:
-To remove and manage waste material lying on the fishing grounds, whit the participation of the partners fishing fleet. -To monitor that waste coming ashore in order to establish its typology, estimate quantities, origin, establish likely trends along European coasts. - To improve the fishing industry’s image in terms of “Corporative Social-environmental responsibility”. - To start actions on the way of European Maritime Policy environmental guidelines in the fishing sector. - To figure out a diagnosis of the environmental situation of partners´ sea&coast fishing grounds regarding marine litter and other solid waste (Gis – “marine waste” map). - To encourage and involve fishermen as key stakeholders according “Guardians of the Sea” recommendations (Future European Maritime Policy). - The raising of awareness among the fishing industry likely trends along all our coasts. - To develop best-practice guidelines for the removal, collection and integrated management of the solid waste that frequently comes on board in the fishing nets and gears, as well as the classification and mapping of samples.
Résumé:
Actions related to: -Waste collection from the seabed/fishing grounds -Integrated management and reciclying of marine waste - Monitoring of litter at seabed in the participating countries/regions: quantity, trends, tipology of waste, ecological description of those areas where liiter concentrates and is liying, maping, etc. - “litter sampling”: carry out sampling trawls with the support of fishing vessels (trawlers) - Technical solutions for removing litter from fishing grounds - Reduce ecologic impacts of waste at sea. -Economic impact/consequences to the industry, public authorities, -Others to be agreed among partners

Partners from Atlantic area (France, Portugal) have similar fisheries and marine ecology, so they aremore than welcome in order to get a wide view of all UE Sudwest seas and fishing grounds.
