Due to the dispersion of those enterprises devoted to this sector in the SUDOE area, the aim of this project is to focus the activities on knowledge transfer and innovation on the living labs by means of the integration of research-industry-management relationships. Every innovation agent will contribute with his/her innovative capacities and necessities helping in the generation of project and business ideas in an environment of virtual proximity.
Résumé:
Recently, we have evolved from closed innovation to open innovation as a process aiming the acceleration of innovation through collaboration. Under this approach, enterprises as well as research centres contribute together to the generation of ideas that can become business opportunities. This interaction between knowledge generation centres and innovation performers facilitates the implication of both agents from the initial stages of the development of ideas. So far, we have found evidences of the good results in big and medium enterprises that have integrated innovation in their strategies but this is not the case with small ones. Is there any possibility of going further in this process so that we can effectively incorporate in small enterprises those technologies developed in research centres?
The project has been proposed with a sectorial nature and its focus is the sea world, aiming at small enterprises of this field which, due to their dispersion throughout the coastal territory, are not developed around industrial centres nearby so that the access to knowledge is more complex. The objective of this project may be enterprises from fields such as fishery, processing and canning industry, aquiculture and naval construction. In reference to the research areas taking part in the project we can mention marine sciences, engineering applied to marine environment, ICT in marine environment, technology and safety of marine food, the economy of marine activities and health in this environment.
The living labs are a figure of research, development and innovation with the aim of encouraging the objectives of Lisbon of growth and employment. Even the European Commission has created a network which integrates the national initiatives on this field (http://www.openlivinglabs.eu/)
The project also tries to take advantage of the impact of new mass media in order to contribute to the development of innovative culture and the execution of technology transfer activities. Since 25 % of the population uses the Internet and more than 300 million take part in social media (blogs, networks...) it is now open a new era of possibilities for knowledge transfer from research centres to enterprises.
Several initiatives has been carried out in the marine sector with interesting results (Marketech) but these are not enough in a field which is the basis of economy in many of the SUDOE areas. For this reason it is necessary to start up new projects that effectively incorporate knowledge so that it can be transformed into innovation for the enterprises on this field.
The project will be developed in three stages:
- Study of those methodologies used by innovation agents - under the concept of Open Innovation - which have given good results when applied to small enterprises of different sectors in different regions of the world. Analysis of results: good practices, adaptation to those methodologies. 9 months.
- Development of the ad hoc methodology applicable to enterprises in marine sectors, taking stage 1 of the project as a reference. 3 months.
- Realization of sectorial living labs that implement the developed methodology for the generation of innovative ideas and its possible development, in a global environment, with the participation of the regions of the partners in the project. In this stage, the aim is to facilitate the creation of collaborative projects between those innovation agents that can access public calls. Apart from that, an advance is expected in those technologies already developed for its exploitation in the enterprises of this sector. 12 months.
