- Objectivos:
- Until now, the overall strategy to reach a sustainable management of the water resources in urban areas and population centres has been focused on raising citizens awareness of a responsible water use, although with insufficient implication of the competent Administrations The project BLUE CHECK promotes that local governments assume a significant role as guarantors of the sustainable use of the water resources, including all the parts of the integral water cycle (collection, water supply, drainage, water treatment and reuse). At the same time, the project BLUE CITY involves both levels of government, regional and national, receiving the necessary political and economic support.
- Resumo:
- Specific goals: By the use of different variables and the definition of the most suitable indicators, an evaluation of the efficiency in each of the phases of the integral urban water cycle will be carried out. It will allow us to catalogue the municipality according to its efficiency on water management, attaining before the following specific goals: • Design an assessment system to catalogue practices of good governance and management on the integral water cycle in SUDOE urban areas. • Validation of the system of assessment for its transferability and implementation in any municipality of the SUDOE. • Set of the minimum criteria required to be acknowledged as a “Sustainable blue city” • Study of the reasonable actions of improvement for the municipalities according to their efficiency rate. • Design and bring into service a web platform that enables the self-diagnose by each interested municipality. This platform will provide a route map or a recommendation sheet for each municipality aiming to improve the efficiency rate obtained. • Implementation of an promotion strategy of commitment and awareness of the municipalities to the efficient use of water resources in the SUDOE space
