Objectivos:: 1. to encourage and facilitate the transnational cooperation among local administrations, universities and research centres, technology parks and enterprises of the partner territories 2. to stimulate, among the partner territories: a. the creation of new businesses and entrepreneurial ideas b. the existing businesses expansion c. the implementation of effective technology transfer processes d. the improvement of entrepreneurial skills and capacities 3. To create new companies providing highly innovative services for cities’ smart and sustainable development 4. To effectively diffuse the project results and to extend the cooperation network to other territories and entities of the SUDOE space.
Resumo:: South East European regions still present several weaknesses in innovation. Moreover, it is necessary to improve the connection between the academic research and the entrepreneurial reality. As an answer to the problems evidenced within the SUDOE space, the project aims to build up a Knowledge and Innovation Community of the SUDOE space (KIC SUDOE), conceived as a network of entities (universities, local administrations, technology parks, research centres, enterprises and SMEs) developing joint projects which integrate the three “knowledge triangle” components: research, education and innovation. This will lead to improve the global competitiveness of the partner territories in strategic areas of knowledge for the SUDOE and EU context in the mid term; and to achieve an international leadership position in the application of ICTs and energy solutions for smart and sustainable cities in the long term. The project foresees the following actions: - to create a networking platform, in order to facilitate the development of joint entrepreneurial initiatives, R&D activities, technology transfer processes, as well as training activities on innovation and entrepreneurship among the project partners. - Organization of 2 transnational innovation and competitiveness conferences to make agreements and build up joint initiatives among the KIC partners and associated bodies for the creation of new businesses and products, highly specialized training courses, etc. - Joint Transnational Spin-off / Start-up companies programme, for the creation of new companies focused on providing innovative products and services for the development of “smart and sustainable cities”. The awarded entrepreneurs will: a) have a privileged access to committed private investors; c) get a free technical consultancy by the partner Universities and research centres during 12 months; d) be freely hosted by the partner technology parks and companies incubators during 12 months; e) negotiate the offer of their products and services to the committed partner local administrations. - Consultancy activities for transnational cooperation projects development: for each new partnership among the KIC SUDOE partners and associates, it will b provided a 6 months free consultancy for the design and management of their projects, as well as the research of public and private funds to finance them. - Diffusion of the projects results and post-project strategy. A best practices manual will be published. Partners will also formalize the creation of a KIC SUDOE as an independent body.
