ENVIRONMENT: OPEN2PRESERVE celebrates its 4th Annual Meeting in COVID times

The 4th annual meeting of partners of Open2Preserve project took place from September 28 to 30th, under a hybrid format.

During the meeting, participants shared the work done over the last year with regard to the follow-up and monitoring of the pilot experiences and development of regional valuation studies. The meeting also counted on external experts among which; Etel Arilla, GRAF deputy inspector, who introduced the implementation of prescribed burns in Catalonia, CTFC researcher Marc Taüll, who presented environmental herbivory models for the management of different forest systems and Anna Sanitjas, administrator from the Diputación de Girona, who explained the management that is currently applied in the mountain pastures of the Montseny Biosphere Reserve. The meeting ended with a visit to the Montseny pilot experience, located in the Pla de la Calma area, where the authorities of the Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve, the shepherd and the rancher who manage the experimental sheep herd detailed the management of the cattle being carried out in the pilot experience.
