PHYTOSUDOE: 36 people attend the 2nd edition of the summer course

On 13-14/07/2017, the Environmental Studies Centre (CEA) of Vitoria-Gasteiz, in cooperation with the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) organized a summer course on “Energy crops and Phyto-management in circular economy models” which brought 36 participants from the research field, administration, private enterprises or self-employed and associations or cooperatives together, getting wide media cover.

Among the speakers, there were experts from Spain, United Kingdom, France and Belgium who focused on degraded soils restoration in the circular economy. They introduced projects of UK, France and Spain results which apply the phyto-remediation, including the biomass produced. Furthermore, new silvopastoral systems benefits and economic profit and efficiency of crops used in phytoremediation were discussed.

On the second day, a visit was organized which counted on high number of participants who had the opportunity to attend the project’s presentation of PhytoSUDOE local partners as well as explanations in situ on the work produced in the experimental parcels of Vitoria-Gasteiz. Due to the positive feedback, a third edition of the summer.
