ENERGY EFFICIENCY: Launch of the IMPROVEMENT project in Córdoba

On January 15, Córdoba hosted the launch event of the IMPROVEMENT project, approved in the framework of the 3rd Call for the programme under the “low carbon economy” axis.

 

The event was inaugurated by the Government delegate in Córdoba, Antonio Repullo, the Vice Chancellor for Infrastructure and Sustainability of the University of Córdoba, Antonio José Cubero; the 2nd Deputy Mayor Delegate for Culture, Historical Heritage and Innovation of the City of Córdoba, Blanca Torrent; and the Director of the CNH2, Emilio Nieto, entity that leads the project, who marked the official start of the project that has a consortium of 9 entities to improve the energy efficiency of public buildings.

The project will develop a new generation of renewable micro networks for the supply of thermal energy and electrical energy. The latter, will be based on advanced energy management systems, with hybrid storage supported by hydrogen, batteries and super-capacitors that will be combined with predictive control techniques. IMPROVEMENT will carry out 2 pilot plants where to implement and validate the new developments. One of them will be located in Puertollano (Ciudad Real) and another in Lisbon.

The event closed with a visit to the facilities of the Hospital de La Axarquía that participates as an associated beneficiary. Integrated in the Energy Network of the Junta de Andalucía, the Malaga hospital center will apply the best solutions of the project to convert it into a zero energy balance building.
