Last 28 March, AGROSMARTcoop participated to the 4th Edition of the „European Event on products of quality and origin“ which took place in Brussels. The objective was to raise awareness on the importance of the products of quality and origin for the Union‘ s agriculture and to stimulare the debates on the sector’s needs.

The conference mainly focused on the role of the geographical indications and products of quality for rural development in view of the Post 2020 Common Agriculture Policy. José Severino Montes Pérez, President of AGACA – Union of agro-food cooperatives from Galicia and coordinator of the project, introduced AGROSMARTcoop and Jesus Gonzalez Vazquez, president of Origen España, talked about smart marketing strategies for Geographical Indications, highligting the importance of consumers focus.

This event which counted on the participation of 22 associated regiones from 5 different EU Member States and 4 Federations of agro-food cooperatives which participate in AGROSMARTcoop was attended by several representatives of the European Institutions, such as MEP Herbert Dorfmann and MEP Paolo de Castro and Nathalie Sauze-Vandevyver.  Director for Quality, Research and Innovation from DG AGRI.
